Overview

The Tennessee Council of Teachers of English (TCTE) recognizes the importance of maintaining your privacy. To that end, TCTE makes it a point to collect only information that you provide on a self-reporting basis. Below are procedures we, as an organization, take to ensure that any private details you provide are held confidential:


Perusing the Site

As a rule, the TCTE website allows you to visit its pages without the need for you to reveal any personal information. We do not track or access your login name. However, we do, on occasion, request personal information from you for a variety of reasons. These are listed below:

  • Subscriptions to (all located on the Home page of the website):

    • The TCTE mailing list
    • The TCTE Twitter platform
    • The TCTE Facebook page
    1. Blog contributions or comments (located on the Blog page under the More tab of the website)

    All of these require you to self-report; that is, you provide the information on a voluntarily basis. It is, ultimately, your choice as to whether to give your personal information or not. If you elect not to make your information available, please note that you will not benefit from full access to the Twitter, Facebook, or the mail list which may result in you missing out on timely and pertinent information. Likewise, you will not be permitted to contribute to or leave comments on the Blog.


    Other times TCTE may request personal information from you so that you may submit conference or professional development institute proposals or join the TCTE conference wiki. These actions require you to navigate away from the website and may ask you to report your name, mailing address, school affiliation, phone number(s), and e-mail address. The information that you key in these forms is needed for completion of the proposal process or membership in the conference wiki.

    The TCTE website includes links to other websites. Please be advised that TCTE is not liable for the privacy practices or content of those sites. Before supplying any personal information, we suggest that you become familiar with each site’s privacy policy.


    Procedural Changes

    If it becomes necessary for TCTE to make changes to its privacy procedures, we will announce those changes via a notice on our website’s homepage with details outlined on the Privacy Policy page of the website. Note: Changes will be effective as of the date posted in the announcement, will supplant previous policies, and will apply to everyone using the TCTE website.
